Il dialogo con l’islamismo è come un ponte fra due sponde, ma, come ogni
Ponte, deve avere solide basi su entrambe le sponde.
Il punto di partenza non può che essere la condivisione dei diritti fondamentali dell’uomo e dei valori non negoziabili che sostanziano la nostra umanità,la libertà di scelta mentre il punto di arrivo non può che essere il perseguimento del bene comune e dell’interesse generale.
Non può esserci dialogo con coloro che, come punto di partenza, disconoscono la sacralità della vita, predicano la distruzione dello Stato di Israele, violano la dignità della persona sottomettendo la donna in quanto essere inferiore, mirano all’islamizzazione del mondo intero econdannano a morte i musulmani che si convertono al cristianesimo.

Ma un dialogo con i musulmani moderati è possibile?
We find that more recently Islam has been used as an excuse for many extremists to carry out some terrorist acts, and I believe that this has really affected the image of Islam and there have been many misunderstandings and its really important for us to really show the true face of Islam and to show that it is a religion of tolerance respect, equality and that these are the values that are held not only in Islam but also for Christians and Jews around the world. So at a time when the headlines are making us focus on our differences, I think that it is very important to focus on our commonalities and to show that these are all ideals that we hold close to our heart.
